- DALÍ i DOMÈNECH SALVADOR DOMINGO FELIPE JACINTO (Figueres 1904 - 1989)
Description
Mariano Fortuny was the leader Catalan painter of his day; but soon after he died (1874), his works were relegated to oblivion. From then on, the history of art started to be the history of avant-gardes: of course, there was no room left for Fortuny. On 1962, Salvador Dalí wanted to release him from this unfair oblivion: he exposed his “Batalla de Tetuán”, together with Fortuny's original, at Salón del Tinell, in Barcelona. More than 50000 people went to the exhibition, giving a “second chance” to this forgotten artist. Offset poster promoting the exhibition, B condition. Dimensions in inches: 39 x 26.3''.
