Description
El barrio del Poble-sec es una lonja urbana que se erige entre la montaña de Montjuïc y la avenida del Paral·lel. Aunque ya estaba habitado desde el siglo X, el barrio empezó a crecer en la segunda mitad del XIX, a raíz del derribo de las murallas de la ciudad. A partir de entonces se fue creando un núcleo obrero y menestral formado por casas de una sola planta.
La fiesta mayor del barrio se celebra la segunda quincena de julio y de la programación se encarga la Coordinadora de Entidades del Poble-sec. Las actividades se reparten en diversos espacios emblemáticos, como la plaza del Sortidor, la de las Tres Xemeneies o la del teatro El Molino, y van a cargo de entidades diferentes. El baile y, sobre todo, la música tienen mucho peso en el programa, pero la cultura popular también está bien presente, con encuentros de gigantes, de castellers y correfocs.
