Description
German-Russian painter, advertiser, illustrator, set and costume designer Adolfo Hohenstein is regarded as one of the fathers of Italian poster art, as well as an exponent of the “Stile Liberty” (Italian Art Nouveau). He settled down in Milan on 1879 and soon became a set and costume designer for La Scala and other theatres. He created theatrical posters for La Bohème and Tosca, as well as several widely appreciated advertising posters for Campari, Buitoni and Corriere della Sera.
