Description

An auca is a genre of a story in pictures developed mainly in Catalonia, with a structure somewhat similar to comics. It includes a number of images that can be evenly divided by 4, all of the same size, all fit on one page, with a rhymed small piece of text, called rodolí, underneath every image. "L'auca del senyor Esteve" is a play by Santiago Rusiñol published in 1907 and played for the first time in Teatre Victòria, Barcelona, on 12 May 1917. This work is the result of the fusion between the customs of people in the 19th Century and the auca: it has 27 chapters, illustrated by 27 arts by Ramón Casas accompanied by 27 rhymes by Gabriel Alomar.
