Description
Salvador Felipe Jacinto Dalí and Domènech, 1 Marqués de Dalí de Púbol (Figueras, May 11, 1904-ibídem, January 23, 1989), was a Spanish painter, sculptor, engraver, set designer and writer of the twentieth century. He is considered one of the greatest representatives of Surrealism.
Salvador Dalí is known for his stunning and dreamlike surrealist images. His pictorial skills are usually attributed to the influence and admiration for Renaissance art. He was also an expert draftsman.2 3 Dalí's plastic resources also addressed film, sculpture and photography, which led him to numerous collaborations with other audiovisual artists. He had the ability to create a genuinely personal and palpable style at first contact, which in reality was very eclectic and "sucked" from other innovations. One of his most famous paintings is The Persistence of Memory, made in 1931.
As an extremely imaginative artist, he manifested a remarkable tendency toward narcissism and megalomania, whose object was to attract public attention. This behavior irritated those who appreciated his art and justified his critics, who rejected his eccentric behaviors as an advertising claim occasionally more striking than his artistic production.4 Dalí attributed his "love for everything that is golden and excessive, his passion for luxury and his love for Oriental fashion "to a self-proclaimed" Arab lineage, "5 which traced its roots back to the times of the Arab domination of the Iberian peninsula.
