The young mason Gunnar "Nicken" Gawell is sent by old mason Karlsson down the scaffolding at Kungsholmen to buy pilsner. He is wearing ten bottles when he collides with a beautiful Ann-Marie, who drops his bag while losing his bottles. The girl makes a deep impression on Gunnar. Inside the Häggblom family we meet Ann-Marie's father and mother grilling for tipping, which is apparently not quite legal. Häggblom has smuggled money to tip AIK. In Ann-Marie as outside, his great boss Freddy Bellin is waiting in his car. Freddy is Ann-Marie's boss, she works at his office, and she is something of his fiancee.

Home at Gawells in Lärkstaden. Gunnar comes home and meets by his father the builder who does not like him to practice a building. He wanted the son to become a lawyer. Furthermore, it annoys him that the son is such a football helmet in his spare time that he has a three-fold image in the newspaper that just entered a half-column about the builder himself when it filled fifty.

Gunnar once again succeeds in supporting Ann-Marie in the same street corner, but without results. At the general senegal of Danzig, we find Bellin, and the conversation shows that Nicken Gawell will be included in the national team against Denmark.

Bellin is in the UK. He invites Nicken and Ann-Marie to Operakällaren, the two youngsters can now easily place each other and they are clearly in love. Bellin notes this uneasy.

"The bears" hires Bellin and he is threatened with bankruptcy and must quickly settle 10,000 kr. Gunnar has acquired a lion in the Old Town and Ann-Marie visits him.

The winning generals promise Bellin 10,000 if the Danes win - he will lose on all who beat Swedish victory. The problem is to bribe Gunnar Gawell to "throw" the match. Bellin tries to bribe him, Gunnar refuses, but later Gunnar doubts when he sees Bellin and Ann-Marie.

Is Gunnar mutad? The match begins with a half where the Danes lead with 2-0. Gunnar plays halfback and pretends at the beginning of the second half to be adjusted when reserves can not be deposited. But his conscience strikes him and he makes the final victory for Sweden.

Radio reports Sven Jerring comments on the whole excitement of the radio. Builder Gawell and Ann-Marie's father Häggblom have found each other during the general hay in Sweden. On the building it will be a thank-you party, Gunnar and Ann-Marie are pussed high on a construction site.
